Edward Cullen (Character) -BIOGRAPHY

Edward Anthony Masen Cullen is a fictional character from the Twilight book series by Stephenie Meyer. He appears in all four books - Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn.

Edward was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 20th, 1901. He had green eyes and bronze colored hair, like his mother. In 1918, when he was 17 years old, he contracted the Spanish influenza. His father had already died and it was his mother's last wish that Carlise do everything he could to save Edward. Despite Carlisle's aversion to the wish, he turned Edward into a vampire because of his previous hopes of finding a companion. Edward moved around with Carlisle and since that time, Edward has passed as Carlisle's adopted son or as the younger brother of his wife, Esme.

Sometime after Esme joined the family, Edward went into a bout of rebellion and split paths with Calisle for a few years. Edward used his gift of mind-reading to single out evil people and drink their blood. About four years later, he decided that it was no longer working out and he returned to Esme and Carlisle and they welcomed him back with open arms.

Then, around 1936, Edward and his family moved to Forks, where they encountered the Quileutes tribe. A treaty was then arranged stating that the Quileutes would not reveal the Cullens' secret so long as they didn't bite any humans and that they stay off of the Quileute land. The Cullens lived in Forks for a few years before moving on to other places. In 2003, the Cullens moved back to Forks where Edward was once again pretending to be Carlisle and Esme's adopted son.

Two years later, when Bella moved to Forks, Edward became intrigued with her, as he could not read her thoughts and her blood 'sang' to him. When Bella was nearly attacked by human muggers in Port Angeles, Edward came to her rescue and they were together romantically from that point on. Edward took Bella to see his family play baseball and three other vampires, James, Victoria, and Laurent chanced upon them setting in motion events that put Bella in danger. James was a tracker and he followed Bella all the way to Pheonix. James bit Bella and Edward was forced to suck her blood to remove the venom from spreading through her system.

After that, Edward went back to Forks with Bella and he stayed with her until her 18th birthday, where after an accident, he decided that it would be best to leave Bella for her own safety. After spending months failing at tracking Victoria, from the baseball game, he heard that Bella jumped off a cliff and died, so he went to Italy to provoke the Volturi, an ancient and powerful vampire family. Bella and his 'sister' Alice went to save him from exposing the vampire secret, which would've forced the Volturi to kill him. They met with the Volturi and were provided with two choices that Edward was greatly displeased with - kill Bella or turn her into a vampire.

The return to Forks meant that they were supposed to return to a normal routine, but Bella wanted to be changed by Edward and he agreed to change Bella as long as she would marry him first. A coven of freshly-made vampires were set loose upon Seattle and Bella's life was once again in danger. She and Edward went up the mountains to camp out and wait for the fight to end. The real fight was actually where they were camped, as Victoria, James's mate, came to avenge him. Once Edward had destroyed Victoria, Bella and Edward went back to his family, where the Volturi met up with them again. Alice assured them that Bella would be changed into a vampire very soon.

Once the day's shock wore off, Bella agreed to marry Edward and to do it properly. Bella said she'd rather not have Jacob at the wedding, but Edward sent him an invitation anyway. Alice helped Bella prepare for the summer wedding. Edward kept the location of the honeymoon a secret. After the ceremony Edward and Bella greeted their guests and danced together. For the first time, Bella met the Denali clan. Edward surprised Bella by having Jacob show up to the wedding and dance with Bella. When Bella's intentions to have a normal honeymoon, despite the fact that Edward was a vampire, accidentally slipped out Jacob loses his temper and has to be dragged away by Sam and Seth.

After leaving the festivities, Bella and Edward board a plane to a secret location. When they arrive, after several planes and a short boat trip, Edward reveals that the island is called Isle Esme. Edward hesitates to go through with their deal in fears of hurting Bella, but does keep his promise. Bella wakes up more content than she ever imagined possible. But Edward is visibly upset at the excess force he used. She has bruises all over her body and feathers from bitten pillows in her hair. Edward tried to keep Bella busy so she wouldn't have any energy to ask him for another try. Eventually she got her way and this time, she had no bruises and Edward was content. After several weeks of bliss Bella notices her weird appetite and constant drowsiness. After preparing some fried chicken, Bella eats a bit of it, feels sick and throws up. After eating breakfast the next morning, she experiences more nausea. Looking in her suitcase for something to calm her stomach, she notices a box of unopened tampons. Bella freezes realizing that in all the time she has been at Isle Esme she hadn't menstruated once. In a panic Edward asks Carlisle if its possible for a human to be pregnant by a vampire. Carlisle is puzzled and doesn't know how to answer. Edward begins to pack everything and informs Carlisle that they're coming home. While Edward is taking the bags to the boat, Bella calls Rosalie in a distressed voice asking for her help.

The story continues in Jacob's point of view. He believed that Bella was dead after the honeymoon, knowing what really would have happened. He went to visit the Cullen family and he saw a weak Bella with a very big bulge in her stomach. Edward was clearly in pain watching the creature inside of her slowly suck her life away. Jacob returned to his pack, and in wolf form heard them contemplating to kill the child because of the possible threat it could pose. Jacob was against it because he knew that Bella too would have to die. Rosalie was very protective of Bella, she cared for her, but Jacob knew it was only because of the child she carried. Jacob separated from his pack and Seth and Leah Clearwater joined him. They protected the Cullen's from the wolves that were going to come to destroy Bella and her child. Jacob suggests she drink blood, since the child was drinking Bella's to survive. Bella felt stronger after drinking blood which clearly nourished the child. Eventually, Edward asked Jacob if he would give permission to break the treaty to save Bella's life. He asked because Jacob's ancestor Ephiram Black was the last chief, when the treaty was originally formed. Jacob gave his permission, if only to save Bella's life. The fetus' movement was breaking Bella's ribs and growing larger and more quickly than a normal fetus. When Bella stood up and made a false move the baby and Bella were suddenly in danger. In a hurry to save Bella's life Edward preforms a C-Section and gets the baby out. In her last moments Bella blacks out. And Edward stabs a huge syringe of his venom straight into her heart, to start her transformation into a vampire. Jacob thinks Bella is now dead and cannot be saved despite Edward's efforts. In his all consuming grief he plans to take the baby from Rosalie and destroy it. Before he gets the chance, Jacob experiences a significant change as he imprints on Edward and Bella's new daughter, Renesmee.

The book shifts back into Bella's point of view. It commences with her feeling every part of her body on fire. After a couple of days of changing Bella awakens with more sharpened senses and a painful burning in her throat. She sees Edward beside her. She claimes that her first kiss with Edward was as if he had never kissed her before. In order to see her half human, half vampire daughter, Renesmee, she has to quench her thirst first so she doesn't accidentally kill her. Bella amazed Edward when she smelled the blood of humans while hunting and starts running towards it, but suddenly stops and turns the other way. She was successful in avoiding human blood, which is extremely rare for a newborn vampire. Unaware that Jacob imprinted on her child she rushes to see her, realizing that Renesmee has grown already, but fits perfectly in her arms. When she realizes that Jacob imprinted on her daughter, she was angry but contained her newfound strength. What pushed her over the edge was when she found out he called her child Nessie, like the nickname for the Loch Ness monster. Bella lunges to attack Jacob, but Seth gets in the way, thereby halting the attack. Bella calms down afterwards and works things out with Jacob.

After a couple of weeks, Bella and Jacob are hunting with Renesmeee. Bella sees Irina from a distance. Weeks later, Alice has a vision. In the vision the Volturi were coming for them because they believed that Renesmee was an immortal child. Their entire guard and even their wives were coming, unheard of in the past. Alice leaves with Jasper to find people to stand with the Cullens, but she and Jasper do not return. The Cullens gather family and friends, and with Renesmee's power to show her memories she convinced all the vampires that she was born from her mother's womb and was not an immortal child. She grew at an extremely fast rate which worried Bella. But Bella prepared for the Volturi by using her mind shield that protected her from Edward's mind reading ability. She stretched it around the ones she tried to protect from the Volturi's abilities. When the Volturi finally arrive she instructs Jacob and Renesmee to escape if things didn't go as planned. The Volturi approach and Bella has her shield around everyone. Jane attempts to break the shield but is unsuccessful. After long deliberation Aro agrees that the child is not an immortal child but he doesn't know if the child was going to be a threat. Alice and Jasper return with another child just like Renesmee. Proof of how harmless they actually were. This also reassured Bella because the other half vampire, half human child was full grown at the age of 7 and has already lived 150 years. The Volturi return home and so do the Cullens and the rest of the vampires depart shortly after. When Bella gets home she expands her shield out of her head briefly so that Edward can see her favorite memories with him. Finally, Bella and Edward are free to live their lives together and passionately in love for eternity.
